KUALA LUMPUR, May 28 – Rafizi Ramli has officially submitted his resignation from the Cabinet, effective 17 June 2025, following his recent defeat in the PKR party elections. In a public statement, Rafizi said he would be on annual leave until the resignation takes effect, emphasizing that without a renewed mandate from his party, it is only right for him to make way for new leadership to translate PKR’s reform agenda into government policy.
Rafizi expressed deep gratitude to the Ministry of Economy’s leadership and civil service, acknowledging their competence and dedication in crafting effective policies. He noted that his final task as Minister—the completion of the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13)—has been accomplished, with a strong focus on structural and educational reforms. He urged the Cabinet to uphold these bold proposals, especially those involving the Ministry of Education.
In his parting words, Rafizi thanked all stakeholders for their support during his tenure and called for continued commitment to long-term economic transformation. “The journey to reshape Malaysia into a high-income nation is far from over. Difficult decisions today will define the prosperity of future generations,” he concluded.
