KUALA LUMPUR, May 31 – Solarvest, in collaboration with engineering students from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), has successfully installed solar-powered lighting systems at four key bus stops in Kampung Chenderong Kelubi, benefiting over 1,000 Orang Asli residents from 11 nearby villages, including 300 schoolchildren.
This initiative, supported by the Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA), aims to enhance safety and accessibility while addressing rural electrification gaps with sustainable energy solutions. The project also provided valuable hands-on experience to UTP students, who were mentored by Solarvest engineers throughout the process—from design and feasibility studies to on-site installation.
Solarvest Chief Operating Officer Vincent Yap highlighted the dual impact of the initiative: empowering underserved communities and nurturing the next generation of clean energy professionals.
