KUALA LUMPUR, June 18 – Malaysia has successfully secured RM4.68 billion in potential investments from Japan during its participation at Expo 2025 Osaka, announced the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA).
This marks a major milestone, contributing to over half of the RM7.39 billion in total leads garnered so far, reinforcing Malaysia’s position as a hub for clean growth, innovation, and sustainability in ASEAN. The announcement was made at the official opening of the Malaysia Pavilion, officiated by Deputy Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Sri Fadillah Yusof and attended by Deputy MITI Minister YB Liew Chin Tong.
The investment leads stem from a focused mission across Kyoto, Kobe, Osaka, and Tokyo, including targeted engagements and the “Explore Malaysia 2025” seminar. With the Malaysia Pavilion expected to host over 150 business activities throughout the Expo.
MIDA’s role in investment facilitation remains central to Malaysia’s RM13 billion target in green and high-value sectors. A highlight of the event was the MoU between Sarawak Energy and Japan Bank for International Cooperation, underscoring Malaysia’s growing leadership in clean energy collaboration.
