GEORGE TOWN, June 6 — Police have confirmed that a viral video circulating on social media showing a woman being molested in a car park in Bayan Lepas is a real incident that occurred on June 2.
A police report was lodged by a 38-year-old local woman who alleged that she was groped by a foreign man around 11:15pm at an apartment parking area. The case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for outraging modesty.
The 24-year-old foreign suspect was apprehended on the spot by members of the public and handed over to police. He is currently under remand to assist with investigations, and the case file will be submitted to the Penang Deputy Public Prosecutor soon for further action.
Northeast District Police Chief ACP Abdul Rozak Muhammad thanked the public for their swift response in detaining the suspect red-handed.
