GEORGE TOWN, June 12 — The Chief Minister of Penang is leading an official delegation to Switzerland and Austria from June 10 to 16, 2025, to advance the Penang Hill Cable Car Project, a flagship sustainable mobility initiative.

Hosted by Doppelmayr and Hartasuma, the visit includes technical site tours of key suppliers such as Doppelmayr Seilbahnen GmbH in Austria and Fatzer AG, Garaventa AG, and CWA Constructions SA in Switzerland, all of whom play pivotal roles in delivering world-class cable car infrastructure.

The delegation will also engage with local authorities and operators in Bettmeralp, a car-free Swiss village accessible only by cable car, to gain insights into sustainable mountain tourism and transport systems.

These exchanges are vital to ensuring the Penang Hill Cable Car system meets the highest international safety and service standards, reinforcing the state’s commitment to quality, accessibility, and long-term environmental stewardship.
