SHAH ALAM, June 14 — Starting October 1, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) will enforce mandatory checks on Speed Limitation Devices (SLD) for all tour and express buses, as well as heavy goods vehicles exceeding 3,500kg, registered from 2015 onwards.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the first phase of enforcement will focus on ensuring these devices are properly activated and functioning, with verification required every two years. Vehicle owners must obtain SLD functionality reports from certified sources.

Including manufacturers, JPJ-recognised workshops, and accredited certification bodies — and keep these documents in their vehicles for inspections and permit applications. The move is aimed at enhancing road safety and ensuring compliance among commercial vehicle operators.
