SUBANG JAYA, June 30 – Cikgu Stefanus Lucas from SK Pendidikan Khas (P) Kota Kinabalu has been named the winner of the RISE Educator Award 2025, receiving a RM5,000 personal award and a RM50,000 grant for his school.

Recognised for using music to empower students with special needs, Cikgu Stefanus has transformed learning through inclusive musical initiatives, including forming a student band and creating a dedicated music space for hearing-impaired learners.

His win was announced at the RISE Educator Conference themed “Impactful Teaching, Purposeful Learning”, attended by education leaders and over 200 educators nationwide. The award, presented by Taylor’s College and The Risers, celebrates outstanding educators making real change in their classrooms.

This year’s conference also honoured four other finalists and featured discussions on inclusive education, teacher-led innovation, and impactful teaching strategies. With over 65,000 votes and more than 1,000 nominations nationwide, the RISE Educator Award continues to spotlight the powerful role educators play in shaping Malaysia’s future through creativity, empathy, and purpose-driven teaching.
