KUALA LUMPUR, July 2 – Brunei’s clean energy ambitions received a major boost with the announcement of its largest national solar photovoltaic (PV) project, a 30MW development led by Seri Suria Power (B) Sdn Bhd — a joint venture between Khazanah Satu Sdn Bhd, Serikandi Oilfield Services Sdn Bhd, and Malaysia’s Solarvest Holdings Berhad through its subsidiary, Atlantic Blue Sdn Bhd.
The solar power plant, to be built on a remediated landfill in Kampong Belimbing, is slated for completion in late 2026 and will contribute significantly to Brunei’s renewable energy goals, generating over 64 million kWh annually and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
This strategic partnership underscores the Brunei Government’s commitment to a sustainable energy transition, reinforced by formal agreements including a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement with the Prime Minister’s Office.
Supported by a forward-thinking regulatory framework, the project is set to stimulate local economic growth, create green jobs, and help Brunei achieve its target of a 30% renewable energy mix and 20% GHG emissions reduction by 2030.
