NEW YORK, June 17 — The Trump Organization has officially launched “Trump Mobile,” unveiling a US$499 smartphone and wireless service designed to appeal to conservative consumers. Marketed as an American-made alternative to major telecom brands, the new venture offers a $47.45 monthly subscription—dubbed “The 47 Plan”—featuring unlimited talk, text, and data, along with telemedicine access, roadside assistance, and international texting to 100 countries.
The T1 phone, clad in a gold-toned metal case etched with an American flag, is scheduled for release in September. Donald Trump Jr. described the product as part of a broader initiative to offer lifestyle services aligned with “American values” through US-based call centers and domestic assembly, though analysts have raised doubts about the feasibility of manufacturing smartphones entirely within the US.

Critics, including ethics watchdogs and legal scholars, have voiced concern over the blending of political influence and commercial gain, questioning whether Trump’s role as president may complicate regulation of the highly saturated and tightly controlled telecom sector. While the Trump Organization insists the venture operates via a licensing agreement and is not directly developed or manufactured by the company.
The announcement has sparked mixed reactions across financial and technology circles. Some analysts cite the phone’s mid-range specs and potential appeal among price-sensitive users, while others remain skeptical of its long-term viability given market dominance by Apple, Samsung, and entrenched wireless providers.
