PUTRAJAYA, June 20 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim hailed Malaysia’s 11-spot leap to 23rd in the IMD World Competitiveness Ranking 2025 as a major national milestone and the country’s best showing in five years.
Attributing the success to reform-driven governance and robust public-private collaboration, Anwar said the ranking reflects Malaysia’s growing global standing and the strength of the Madani Economy framework. “This achievement belongs to all Malaysians,” Anwar stated, commending the nation’s improved performance in trade, investment climate, and government efficiency.
The Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) reaffirmed Malaysia’s progress toward becoming one of the world’s top 12 most competitive economies by 2033, with the country now ranking fourth globally in economic performance and making notable gains in business and government efficiency.
