PUTRAJAYA, June 19 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for stronger and more effective measures to tackle the alarming rise in drug and vape abuse among Malaysian youth, particularly within the Malay community.
Addressing over 1,000 educators at the Seminar Kenegaraan Malaysia Madani, Anwar stressed that despite long-standing efforts — including funding, counselling, and religious outreach — the issue remains unresolved and is now damaging the future of the nation’s younger generation.
Highlighting recent disturbing trends, including schoolchildren using vapes laced with synthetic drugs, Anwar urged educators to lead by example through strong values, ethics, and language mastery. He emphasised that restoring moral integrity and knowledge among youth is key to building a stronger Malaysia.
With some states like Terengganu and Pahang already enforcing vape bans, the Prime Minister reiterated the need for cohesive national efforts and united community action to address the crisis.
