GEORGE TOWN, June 19 — IJM Land Berhad has issued an update regarding the ongoing dismantling of the pedestrian bridge at THE LIGHT Waterfront Penang, which is impacting George Town-bound lanes of the Tun Dr. Lim Chong Eu Expressway.
The nightly works, scheduled from 18 to 27 June between 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM, aim to facilitate the development of The Light Interchange. However, on the first night, technical complications and limited space for crane operations delayed the reopening of lanes until 8:30 AM, leading to significant traffic congestion.
In response, IJM Land is implementing immediate corrective measures, including adjustments to dismantling procedures, equipment repositioning, and enhanced coordination with traffic authorities to streamline operations and reduce future delays.
The company has apologised for the disruption and advised motorists to plan alternate routes during the period. These works are part of broader efforts to enhance long-term traffic connectivity and infrastructure in the area, with safety and minimal disruption as ongoing priorities.
