SUBANG JAYA, July 18 — Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) has made a landmark breakthrough in cancer care, becoming the first hospital in Malaysia to publish local genomic data using Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) for lung cancer.

This milestone reflects SJMC’s commitment to precision medicine, where treatments are tailored to each patient’s unique genetic profile—offering not only longer life but better quality of life.

Guided by its MS ISO 15189 accredited lab, SJMC’s genomic profiling has revealed critical genetic patterns in Malaysian lung cancer patients, such as higher rates of EGFR and KRAS G12C mutations. For patients like Puan Roziah, diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer in 2014.

This approach has meant access to targeted therapy, extended survival, and a renewed sense of hope. SJMC’s efforts are paving the way for personalised care to become standard practice across Malaysia’s healthcare system.
