Apple’s next-generation M5 chip is set to debut this fall, powering updated versions of the MacBook Pro and iPad Pro. Breaking from last year’s staggered release, both products are expected to launch simultaneously, marking a swift follow-up to the M4 chip rollout.
The M5 MacBook Pro lineup will include the base M5, M5 Pro, and M5 Max configurations, while the iPad Pro will receive a modest spec bump following its M4 redesign in 2024. Although rumors surrounding the M5 MacBook Pro remain minimal, the release is anticipated to follow Apple’s typical October or November schedule.
There’s also speculation about a new Apple Studio Display launching alongside, potentially highlighting the M5’s advanced graphics capabilities. Meanwhile, the M5 iPad Pro is likely to be positioned as a high-performance productivity device, possibly tied to iPadOS 26 marketing efforts.
For now, these two devices are expected to be the only M5-equipped products in 2025, with broader adoption across Apple’s Mac lineup arriving in early 2026.
