PERMATANG PAUH, July 1 – Communications Minister YB Datuk Fahmi Fadzil led a mobile coverage test with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and major telcos in Butterworth and surrounding areas to ensure optimal network quality ahead of Malaysia Day celebrations this 16 September.
Tests along the route from PICCA Convention Centre to NADI Kubang Semang, involving CelcomDigi, Maxis, U Mobile, Unifi Mobile, and Yes, showed satisfactory coverage with no dropped calls. As part of his working visit, Fahmi also visited NADI Kubang Semang and engaged with the local community during the Safe Internet Campaign.
Which included a special cyber safety awareness session for 18 hearing-impaired students. He is also set to inspect the pilot implementation of a 60-meter MOCN 4G tower in Tanjung Asam, which now provides stable 4G coverage to over 3,000 residents in nearby rural areas, strengthening the nation’s digital infrastructure goals.
