KUALA LUMPUR, July 22 – Tenable has released its 2025 Cloud Security Risk Report, revealing that 70% of AI-related cloud workloads in Southeast Asia contain at least one critical unpatched vulnerability—significantly higher than the 50% found in traditional workloads.
As AI adoption accelerates across the region, the report warns that misconfigurations and overprivileged access in services like Google’s Vertex AI Workbench are exposing organisations to heightened risk.
With regulators tightening controls in markets like Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia, organisations are being urged to embed security earlier in AI development. Despite a decline in toxic cloud trilogies, Tenable highlights that even a single exposed, high-privilege, and vulnerable workload remains a serious threat.
“The rise of AI workloads introduces a fresh wave of complexity,” said Ari Eitan, Director of Cloud Security Research at Tenable, calling for stronger exposure management and identity controls to protect sensitive data.
