GEORGE TOWN, July 4 — Restoration works are actively being carried out at Gurney Bay to maintain the park as a safe and pleasant recreational space for the public, said Pulau Tikus state assemblyman Joshua Woo in a statement. He shared that several damages have already been repaired by the park’s contractor.

The team is currently awaiting the arrival of specialists to replace the affected rubber flooring surface, which accounts for only about 5% of the playground area. Woo noted that Gurney Bay’s playground receives high daily footfall and is regularly exposed to extreme weather and, at times, vandalism.

As such, regular maintenance is essential to ensure the facilities remain in good condition for everyone to enjoy. “We thank the public for their concern and patience. Our commitment remains strong in making Gurney Bay a welcoming and comfortable space for all,” he said.
