KUALA LUMPUR, July 14 — Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil today said the Cabinet is likely to discuss the alleged leak of the Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) meeting minutes next week, following growing concerns about judicial independence and transparency.
He noted that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to bring up the issue during the next Cabinet meeting, given its seriousness and public attention. The controversy began after a purported excerpt from the JAC’s May meeting surfaced on Reddit and was later circulated on other social media platforms.
While the authenticity of the document remains unverified, Fahmi warned that if genuine, the document could fall under the Official Secrets Act. The leak has sparked calls from several government MPs, including Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, for a Royal Commission of Inquiry to investigate alleged interference in judicial appointments.
