KUALA LUMPUR, July 14 — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has teased an upcoming “extraordinary gesture of appreciation for Malaysians,” fuelling speculation over a major announcement in the coming days.
In a cryptic social media post, Anwar urged the public to “stay tuned,” while Segamat MP R Yuneswaran revealed that a resolution has been reached regarding ongoing concerns over judicial appointments, including the chief justice’s post. Yuneswaran called for calm and discouraged speculation, expressing confidence in the government’s commitment to judicial independence.
Subang MP Wong Chen echoed similar sentiments, noting that key issues were raised during a recent meeting with Anwar and that an official statement is expected within days. The announcement could follow a series of high-level meetings Anwar held with Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional MPs to align positions on taxation, fuel subsidies, and judicial reforms.
