AIR ITAM, July 17 — The Air Itam–Tun Lim Chong Eu bypass highway has reached 84% completion, according to Penang Member of Parliament YB Wong Hon Wai. During a recent site visit, Wong announced key updates including permanent closure of the right-turn junction from Paya Terubong to Lintang Angsana.
And extended green light timing at the Paya Terubong–All Seasons cross junction by 20 seconds during morning rush hours, to ease congestion. Wong also addressed public safety concerns over parapet installation methods, instructing contractors to replace excavators with cranes and implement night lane closures when necessary.
Drainage upgrades are also progressing, with a new concrete pond completed near the Farlim Market and an 85% completed drain connecting to Sungai Dondang to reduce flooding risk. Once completed, the toll-free bypass is expected to significantly shorten travel time for commuters.
