SINGAPORE, August 8 — Asia Pacific’s mobile sector contributed a massive US$950 billion to the region’s GDP in 2024 and is projected to reach US$1.4 trillion by 2030, according to the GSMA’s Mobile Economy Asia Pacific 2025report. Unveiled at the Digital Nation Summit Singapore.

The report highlights mobile connectivity as a key driver of economic growth and job creation, supporting 17 million jobs and generating over US$90 billion in public revenue last year alone. However, the GSMA warns of rising spectrum costs, cyber threats, and a growing digital divide that could hinder future progress.

With 5G expected to cover 50% of all mobile connections by 2030, the report calls for urgent action to address a “scam economy” that cost consumers over US$1 trillion globally in 2024. Industry leaders are urging governments to implement sustainable spectrum strategies and invest in inclusive digital infrastructure to secure the region’s digital future.
