BAYAN LEPAS, August 3 – Chief Minister of Penang, YAB Chow Kon Yeow, officially launched GBS By The Sea, the fourth initiative under Penang Development Corporation’s (PDC) Global Business Services (GBS) program, marking a significant milestone in the state’s digital and innovation-driven transformation.

The RM296 million development, located at Technoplex in Bayan Lepas, spans 290,000 square feet and is already fully tenanted by global giants Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Celestica, and Microsoft, bringing over 1,000 high-value jobs to Penangites in fields such as R&D and digital services.

Designed as a modern, people-focused workplace with amenities including a gym, cafeteria, and 800-bay car park, GBS By The Sea reflects Penang’s commitment to nurturing talent and retaining top-tier companies. The Chief Minister also announced the upcoming RM500 million GBS at Technoplex project, reaffirming strong investor confidence in Penang’s GBS ecosystem.

In addressing global trade concerns, Chow urged the federal government to capitalize on ASEAN’s leverage to secure better tariff agreements for Malaysia, ensuring resilience for local SMEs amid shifting international landscapes.
