KUALA LUMPUR, August 21 — At the Second Digital Think Tank Network Roundtable co-hosted by Universiti Malaya, Huawei Malaysia urged the development of comprehensive national standards to safeguard Malaysia’s clean energy future.
Speaking on the importance of safety and regulatory frameworks, Huawei’s Solutions Expert Damon Leong emphasised that recent incidents involving battery storage and PV systems demonstrate the urgent need for stringent Malaysian Standards (MS) and robust product validation in the renewable energy sector.
Joined by experts from the Energy Commission, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, and Universiti Malaya, the roundtable explored Malaysia’s path to achieving net zero by 2050.
From fire risks in solar systems to governance in sustainability, speakers stressed the importance of cross-sector collaboration, regulatory enforcement, and public stewardship in shaping a reliable and resilient green energy landscape.
