KUALA LUMPUR, August 21 – Malaysia’s commitment to becoming a regional centre for occupational safety and health (OSH) training and research was reinforced with the establishment of a permanent office for the Asian Occupational Safety and Health Research Institute (AOSHRI) at the NIOSH headquarters in Bandar Baru Bangi.
The office will coordinate regional OSH research, data-driven policymaking, and knowledge exchange among its 12 member institutions from across Asia. Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad, speaking at the ASEAN OSH Summit 2025, said the NIOSH facilities.
Which include 13 internationally certified laboratories will support high-impact research and regional collaboration. Malaysia also introduced its Malaysian Research Initiative for National Agenda 3.0 (MaRINA 3.0) as a potential regional blueprint for coordinated OSH research across ASEAN.
