GEORGE TOWN, August 6 – The Majestic Theatre comes alive this August 5 and 6 with The Malaysian Real Book: Page to Performance, a powerful tribute to Malaysia’s rich musical heritage and contemporary jazz voices.

Presented as part of George Town Festival 2025, this 120-minute concert features powerhouse vocalists Alwagera and May Mow, backed by the award-winning WVC Jazz Sextet. Audiences can expect soaring vocals, jazz classics, and fresh original compositions performed in Malay, Chinese, and English.

All drawn from The Malaysian Real Book, a first-of-its-kind publication that charts the history of Malaysian popular music. Led by pianist-composer Tay Cher Siang, WVC Jazz has become one of Southeast Asia’s most influential jazz groups, and their dynamic rhythms of swing, soul, and bebop promise an unforgettable night.

May Mow brings elegance and flair with her bilingual renditions and celebrated stage presence, while Alwagera offers a bold, soulful edge, blending R&B, jazz, and ethnic fusion into her expressive performances.
