CUPERTINO, August 18 — Apple has begun rolling out macOS Tahoe 26 public beta 2 after a short delay, aligning it with yesterday’s developer beta 5 release.
The update brings several behind-the-scenes improvements and a few visual tweaks, including updated system icons like a refreshed Macintosh HD icon now resembling a modern SSD. Users who opt into the beta program can install the update through System Settings > General > Software Update, after enrolling at beta.apple.com.
While the latest beta focuses mainly on performance refinements and bug fixes, users upgrading from older macOS versions will still enjoy key features such as the new Liquid Glass interface, desktop widgets, a customizable Control Center, and Live Activities from iPhone via Continuity.
Apple advises installing the beta only on a secondary system or partition, and backing up your data beforehand due to the possibility of instability and app compatibility issues.
