KUALA LUMPUR, August 12 — The romantic comedy Worth The Wait opens in over 30 cinemas nationwide this weekend, bringing a heartwarming blend of love, hope, and redemption to the big screen.

Directed by acclaimed Taiwanese filmmaker Tom Shu-Yu Lin in his English-language debut, the film features a star-studded all-Asian cast including Ross Butler, Lana Condor, Andrew Koji, Sung Kang, and Elodie Yung.

Loosely inspired by producer and former Miss Malaysia Rachel Tan’s personal love story, the 1 hour 42 minute feature interweaves four narratives, with at least 10 scenes filmed in Malaysia to highlight the nation’s natural beauty, vibrant heritage, and warm hospitality.

Having already won American audiences on Fox’s streaming platform Tubi, the film now makes its Malaysian debut during the national month celebrations, supported by Tourism Malaysia as part of efforts to boost the country’s profile ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

Distributed locally by Astro Shaw, Worth The Wait has garnered praise for its authentic storytelling, cross-cultural representation, and emotional resonance. In addition to Malaysia, it will also be released in Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the UK, the Middle East, and Taiwan—further cementing Malaysia’s growing presence on the world cinema stage.
