PETALING JAYA, August 16 — The Ministry of Finance has awarded a RM5 million grant to Sustainable Tourism Malaysia to expand its nationwide initiatives promoting conservation, cultural heritage, and inclusive economic growth ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026. Co-chaired by The Habitat Foundation and Tengah Island Conservation.

The network of tourism businesses, NGOs, and community groups will scale up from eight to 23 projects, including new ventures in Sabah and Sarawak, focusing on marine conservation, national geoparks, protected landscapes, and urban green spaces.

The funding will support community-led tourism, infrastructure upgrades, and curated experiences aimed at making Malaysia a leading sustainable tourism destination in Asia.
