GEORGE TOWN, August 23 – Penang Infrastructure Corporation (PIC) has clarified public concerns regarding the permanent closure of the Lintang Angsana junction as part of the Jalan Pintasan construction from Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Highway to Ayer Itam. The adjustment was made in line with Package 2 of the project, which introduces a flyover along Lebuhraya Thean Tek towards the All Season area.

PIC explained that the closure is necessary to avoid safety risks such as limited visibility caused by flyover pillars and the absence of sufficient lanes for turning, which could increase the chances of front-end and rear-end collisions, particularly endangering motorcyclists.

To facilitate smoother traffic, several modifications have been introduced, including a U-turn for vehicles heading from Batu Lanchang to Paya Terubong near the Farlim Wednesday Night Market, and an alternative U-turn at the Jalan Thean Tek intersection for light vehicles accessing Farlim Business Centre.

Additionally, all vehicles may turn right via Jalan Angsana to reach the business hub. While acknowledging the inconvenience caused to motorists and business operators, PIC emphasized that the changes prioritize road safety and are expected to bring long-term benefits for smoother and safer traffic flow in the area.
