GEORGETOWN, August 25 — Kuala Lumpur City FC (KL City) spoiled Penang FC’s hopes of securing their first home win of the Malaysia Super League 2025/26 season after claiming a 2-1 triumph at Stadium Bandaraya tonight.
National striker Safawi Rasid opened the scoring in the 34th minute with a composed finish inside the penalty box, before Penang’s captain Stefano Brundo equalised early in the second half through a powerful header in the 48th minute.
However, the visitors had the final say when defender Kamal Azizi Mohamad Zabri struck in the 77th minute following a defensive lapse, sealing KL City’s second league victory of the season. Despite late pressure and multiple free-kick opportunities, Penang failed to find the equaliser.
The defeat marks Penang’s second home loss this season, leaving them still in search of their first win after earlier setbacks against Terengganu FC and Melaka FC.
