KUALA LUMPUR, September 28 – The Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) has announced the return of Mosque Open Day (MOD) as the signature highlight of Islamic Tourism Month (ITM) 2025, inviting Malaysians and international visitors alike—including non-Muslims—to experience the nation’s mosques as vibrant cultural and spiritual landmarks.

Running throughout September across nine iconic mosques nationwide, MOD will feature guided tours, exhibitions, cultural forums, traditional games, children’s contests, and food bazaars, fostering greater understanding, dialogue, and appreciation of Islamic heritage.

With 6,851 mosques nationwide, 97 of which are identified as tourism mosques, MOD plays a vital role in expanding Malaysia’s Muslim-Friendly Tourism and Hospitality (MFTH) initiatives ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026. The programme also complements ITC’s long-term projects such as the Mosque Visit Guide (MosVi) training and the Tourism Mosque Directory on My Muslim Trip.

By opening mosque doors through immersive cultural experiences, Malaysia strengthens its position as a global leader in Muslim-friendly travel and interfaith engagement.
