BUTTERWORTH, September 18 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has stressed that Malaysia’s pursuit of economic growth must go hand in hand with the preservation of culture, morals and human dignity.
Speaking at the Malaysia Day 2025 celebration at PICCA-Butterworth Arena Convention Centre, themed “Malaysia MADANI: Rakyat Disantuni,” Anwar said advancements in artificial intelligence, digitalisation, and green energy must not come at the expense of human values.
He added that true progress requires comprehensive reforms to uplift the people’s well-being while safeguarding unity and rejecting racial or religious extremism. Anwar pointed to Penang’s pioneering role in high-tech industries, Johor’s rise in attracting investments under the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone.
Sarawak’s potential as a regional energy hub, and Sabah’s projected rapid economic growth by 2026. He emphasised that independence means more than political freedom — it is about ensuring a just system, equality, and shared prosperity for all Malaysians.
The event was attended by national leaders, state representatives, and thousands of citizens, reflecting the spirit of unity across Malaysia’s diverse communities.
