GEORGE TOWN, September 26 — Penang State Executive Councillor for Tourism and Creative Economy, Wong Hon Wai, announced that Batik Air Malaysia will launch a new direct Singapore–Penang route in December 2025, while HK Express will double its Hong Kong–Penang services to two flights daily starting 26 October 2025.

Wong highlighted that Singapore remains one of Penang’s top three visitor markets, with strong spending power driven by the Singapore dollar’s advantage, making the new route a significant boost for tourism, investment, and leisure travel.

He further emphasized that both Singapore Changi and Hong Kong International Airports are among the world’s most influential aviation hubs, ranked 15th and 9th respectively in passenger traffic by Airports Council International.

With these enhanced connections, Penang stands to gain greater prominence in the international route network, offering more convenient access for global travelers. Wong said the expanded flight options not only strengthen ties with Singapore and Hong Kong.

But also unlock new business opportunities for Penang’s tourism operators and SMEs, reinforcing the state’s competitiveness as a premier international destination.
