SEPANG, October 2 — The Sumud Nusantara Control Centre (SNCC) confirmed it has lost communication with 10 Malaysian volunteers aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) after the convoy entered “Red Zone 2” waters early this morning.
Among the affected vessels are the Alma, Huga, Mikeno, Inana, and Sirius, with Alma carrying three Malaysians, including singer Zizi Kirana and activist Muaz Zainal. Musa Nuwayri, Malaysia’s delegate to Gaza, was detained by Israeli forces and shared a video before his capture, appealing to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for immediate and unconditional intervention.
SNCC Director Datuk Dr. Sani Araby Abdul Alim said the volunteers had been instructed to discard their phones if intercepted by Israeli forces, which explains the sudden loss of signal. While no injuries have been reported so far, communications with several vessels were cut off for over two hours, coinciding with reports of Israeli naval interception in international waters.
The flotilla, carrying food and medical aid for Gaza, had earlier vowed to continue its mission despite repeated warnings from Israel and appeals from European governments to halt.
