BUTTERWORTH, October 10 — Police have launched a murder investigation after a man’s body was found stuffed inside a suitcase near the Ampang Jajar apartments in Butterworth yesterday afternoon. Seberang Perai Utara district police chief ACP Anuar Abd Rahman said a report was received from the public at about 1.43pm on October 9, 2025, and forensic teams were immediately dispatched to the scene.
The body, believed to be that of an adult male, was discovered with his throat slit, hands bound, and head covered with a plastic bag, suggesting he was killed elsewhere before being dumped at the location. The grisly discovery has sent shockwaves through the local community, as police work to identify the victim and determine the motive behind the killing.
The body has been sent to Seberang Jaya Hospital for a post-mortem to confirm the cause of death. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. Meanwhile, family members of missing Penang man DanielHan Lee (Lee Boon Han), 31, have come forward to the hospital to assist in the identification process, amid fears that the deceased could be him.
Police have urged anyone with information to contact the nearest station to assist in the ongoing probe.
