KUALA LUMPUR, October 10 — Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that over RM700 million has been allocated under Budget 2026 to revitalise Malaysia’s tourism industry, with more than 70% of the funding dedicated to the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.
The allocation includes RM500 million to drive the campaign and RM60 million for promotional activities, marketing efforts, and the organisation of tourism and cultural events nationwide. Anwar said RM50 million will be channelled to support arts and heritage entrepreneurs, including local craftsmen, batik makers, and weavers.
While another RM50 million in matching grants will encourage more international and charter flights to Malaysia. Additionally, RM25 million is set aside to enhance key tourism sites such as Gunung Mulu National Park, Lenggong Valley, and FRIM Forest Park, alongside RM20 million to strengthen health tourism under the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council.
To further stimulate growth, tax incentives will include deductions of up to RM500,000 for renovations and upgrades of tourism premises, and income tax exemptions of up to 100% for international-level tourism and cultural events that draw foreign visitors.
