WASHINGTON, October 21 — US President Donald Trump announced that he will visit Malaysia later this month for the 47th ASEAN Summit before traveling to Japan and South Korea, where he is expected to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping for trade discussions.
Speaking at the White House alongside Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Trump reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing “a fair deal” with China despite ongoing trade tensions, saying he values his relationship with Xi.
The visit marks Trump’s first trip to Asia since beginning his second term in January, with Malaysia’s ASEAN chairmanship setting the stage for a high-profile regional gathering from October 26 to 28, followed by the APEC Summit in South Korea at the end of the month.
