PETALING JAYA, November 24 – The Online Safety IRL: Scam Edition fellowship has been launched to train 35 Malaysian content creators and youth leaders to become digital safety advocates capable of reaching over five million users online.

Jointly organised by the Ministry of Communications, CelcomDigi, Meta, and Ratio:Cause, with Tontonas media partner, the initiative aims to combat the growing threat of AI-driven financial scams through education, mentorship, and hands-on advocacy.

Fellows will undergo masterclasses, field immersions, and mentorships to strengthen scam-spotting and digital resilience skills. Supported by key leaders including YB Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, the programme also introduces Meta’s new Bahasa Malaysia scam awareness game, Is This Legit?.
