KUALA LUMPUR, November 26 — The Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) has unveiled its Sustainability Framework and Strategy Plan at the National Sustainability Reporting Framework (NSRF) Symposium 2025, marking a major step in embedding sustainability within the accountancy profession.

Approved by the MIA Council earlier this year, the five-year roadmap (2025–2029) outlines 169 targeted initiatives to integrate sustainability across MIA’s governance, operations, and advocacy efforts.

MIA President Dato’ Seri Dr Mohamad Zabidi Ahmad said the initiative reinforces the Institute’s mandate to position accountants as key enablers of sustainability and climate action.

While CEO G Shanmugam highlighted that MIA aims to lead by example in aligning with global standards such as the ISSB’s IFRS S1 and S2 to advance transparency and national resilience.
