GEORGE TOWN, November 4 — A section of Jalan Dato Ismail Hashim near the Jalan Kenari junction in Sungai Ara, Bayan Lepas, collapsed this afternoon, prompting the temporary closure of the road.
Penang Executive Councillor Zairil Khir Johari confirmed that his office was alerted to the incident and that a team from the state Public Works Department is on-site conducting emergency mitigation works to ensure the safety of road users.
The cave-in, which occurred in front of KFC Desa Riang and opposite SMK Sungai Ara, fortunately did not result in any casualties.
Bayan Lepas assemblyman Azrul Mahathir Aziz was also present at the scene, and the public has been advised to exercise caution and follow the directions of personnel managing the site.
