SABAH, November 17 – Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for Tanjong Papat, Tang Szu Ching, has pledged to prioritise long-standing water supply, sanitation and garbage issues affecting Kampung Melayu Bumiputera Sim Sim if elected in the 17th Sabah State Election.

The 29-year-old DAP candidate said current initiatives, including NGO-installed garbage traps, are not sustainable and stressed the need for coordinated garbage collection programmes that engage local communities.

She also noted that worn-out pipes in Sandakan must be replaced in stages due to saltwater intrusion affecting the Segaliud Water Treatment Plant, adding that she and Sandakan MP Vivian Wong have been distributing water to affected villages.

Tang also highlighted her commitment to enhancing youth participation in business, especially in local public markets. Citing a new Sandakan Municipal Council (MPS) policy that allocates 30 per cent of market trading lots to new and young entrepreneur.

She said she aims to channel the voices, needs and aspirations of youth into the State Legislative Assembly. As an MPS member, she hopes these measures will provide more equitable opportunities for young traders and strengthen economic prospects in the constituency.
