KUALA LUMPUR, December 12 — Malaysia’s push into the global green hydrogen economy gained significant momentum as Bin Zayed International M Berhad (BZI) signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement with Nova RE Suria Sdn. Bhd.

(NRES) to develop the Paka Green Hydrogen Plant Project (PGH2P) in Terengganu, a landmark venture set to produce nearly 30,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually and powered by a 200 MW electrolyser facility.

Positioned as one of Malaysia’s first large-scale hydrogen plants and supported by engineering giants such as China Energy Engineering Corporation and GUOFUHEE, the project marks a major step toward industrial decarbonisation, economic competitiveness, and the nation’s Zero Carbon Emission 2050 aspirations.

With global hydrogen demand rising rapidly and Malaysia’s strategic advantages aligning with national frameworks like the NETR and HETR, the PGH2P project signals the country’s readiness to secure a first-mover foothold in the clean-energy transition, catalysing new investments, innovation, and green technology development.
