SABAH, November 26 – The early voting process for the 17th Sabah State Election began smoothly yesterday across 58 designated centres despite early morning rain, with military personnel, police officers, and their spouses turning up as early as 7am to cast their ballots.
Polling centres at police headquarters, military camps, and district stations statewide opened simultaneously at 8am, including key locations in Kota Kinabalu, Putatan, Sandakan, and Lahad Datu, where order and steady voter flow were observed throughout the morning.
As of 11am yesterday, the Election Commission reported a turnout of 61.72 per cent among the 24,426 early voters comprising armed forces and police personnel and their spouses. The Sabah polls—featuring 596 candidates vying for 73 seats—continue with campaigning until November 28.
