KUALA LUMPUR, December 13 – Nearly 2,000 Malaysians have helped shape the revised Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Content Code, as the Content Forum’s nationwide consultation revealed strong public demand for clearer safeguards on AI, stronger child protection, fairer content standards, and more accountable digital practices.
The two-month exercise received 1,891 submissions—led by youth, who formed the largest respondent group—highlighting growing concern over online harms, CSAM, data use involving children, inclusive representation, and the handling of resurfaced content.
Content Forum CEO Mediha Mahmood described the consultation as a “stress test” for the Code, while Chairman Datuk Rafiq Razali emphasised that evolving technology requires modern, ethical frameworks shaped by the community itself.
The findings will now guide the final drafting of a future-ready Content Code aimed at strengthening consumer protection and ensuring a safer, more responsible digital ecosystem for all Malaysians.
