Micron Technology has announced it will exit its long-running Crucial consumer memory and storage business as the company pivots entirely toward meeting explosive demand from the AI and data-center sectors. Consumer-branded Crucial products will continue shipping until the end of February 2026, with warranties and customer support remaining intact.

Micron said the move will allow it to prioritize supply for its largest strategic clients as artificial intelligence workloads fuel unprecedented global demand for DRAM and NAND. The decision marks the end of a 29-year era for Crucial, a brand long associated with reliable consumer RAM and SSD solutions.
Micron’s Chief Business Officer Sumit Sadana said the shift aligns with the company’s broader portfolio transformation aimed at long-term, high-growth enterprise markets. While Crucial will be discontinued.

Micron stressed that it will redeploy affected employees where possible and continue supporting Micron-branded enterprise products. The company is simultaneously expanding its global manufacturing footprint, including new facilities in Japan and the United States, as it bets heavily on the accelerating AI-driven data economy.
