GEORGE TOWN, December 11 – Batik Air has expanded its Penang International Airport network with new direct flights to Singapore and Medan, enhancing the city’s role as a northern gateway and supporting tourism, business, and medical travel.

The Penang-Singapore route caters to weekend getaways and short-haul leisure trips, while the Penang-Medan connection opens access for Indonesian travellers seeking medical and wellness services, as well as leisure travel across Malaysia’s northern corridor.

Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy, CEO of Batik Air, highlighted that the new routes strengthen Penang’s hub status and align with Visit Malaysia Year 2026, with local officials noting the initiative will boost regional connectivity.
