KUALA LUMPUR, December 22 — The inaugural Gatorade Malaysia Closed 2025, Malaysia’s first official national pickleball championship, concluded with junior and senior champions crowned as emerging talents and seasoned athletes battled for national ranking points in a milestone event organised by the Malaysia Pickleball Association (MPA).

With the Kuala Lumpur Pickleball Association, highlighting the sport’s rapid rise and inclusivity, as players across all age groups delivered high-level competition under national standards, with Mohd Faizal Bin Othman winning the Men’s Singles 35+ title and Laurel Yong Loong Er emerging champion in the Women’s Singles Open.

While strong grassroots participation, corporate support from Gatorade, and growing interest from former national athletes underscored pickleball’s evolution into a structured, competitive ecosystem in Malaysia, now recognised as Asia’s leading pickleball nation with more than 143,000 active players nationwide.
