GEORGE TOWN, December 15 — The George Town Literary Festival (GTLF) 2025 wrapped up its 15th edition with more than 3,000 participants from over 10 countries, drawing a notably youthful and intergenerational audience under the theme “Urban Myths and Memories.”

As the Penang Institute–curated festival presented a vibrant programme of panel discussions, book launches, workshops, performances and heritage-based experiences across five historic venues, featuring 36 writers and artists from 12 countries.

Awarding the inaugural Penang Monthly Short Story Prize to Nur Syuhada binti Mohd Surahbil, and reaffirming GTLF’s role as a key regional platform for literary exchange, cultural dialogue and community engagement in George Town.
