SUNWAY CITY, December 24 – Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway City (SMC) has marked a major milestone in Malaysian healthcare with the launch of the country’s first photon-counting CT scanner, developed in collaboration with Siemens Healthineers, ushering in a new era of diagnostic precision, safety and patient comfort.

This next-generation imaging technology delivers ultra-high resolution images across a broad range of clinical applications, including cardiology, neurology, oncology, paediatrics and pulmonology, while significantly reducing radiation exposure.

By detecting and measuring individual photons, the system enables clinicians to identify subtle tissue differences and micro-lesions with exceptional clarity, supporting faster, more confident clinical decisions.

Dato’ Lau Beng Long, President of Sunway Healthcare Group, said the milestone reflects SMC’s ongoing commitment to innovation and world-class care, while Siemens Healthineers Malaysia Managing Director Ms. Siow Ai Li highlighted the partnership as a breakthrough in transforming precision diagnostics nationwide.

Reinforcing its leadership as Malaysia’s largest private quaternary hospital and a globally recognised medical institution, SMC continues to elevate healthcare standards by investing in advanced technologies that prioritise patient safety, comfort and personalised care.
