KUALA LUMPUR, December 30 — Maxis Berhad has confirmed that telecommunications services affected by a fire at its tower site in Kampung Kelebor, Kuala Kangsar, Perak have been fully restored.
In a media statement today, the company said services were reinstated in stages, with complete restoration achieved by 1.03am on December 29, including all services shared under the Multi-Operator Core Network (MOCN) arrangement.
Maxis said its technical team moved swiftly to replace damaged radio equipment after confirming that the tower structure remained safe.
The repair works restored connectivity at the affected site and four linked locations, resolving service disruptions for about 3,000 customers in nearby communities and highway users who were impacted by the incident on December 27.
The telco added that it is cooperating closely with the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM) and relevant authorities to determine the cause of the fire.
Maxis also acknowledged the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission’s statement on the matter, reaffirming its commitment to network safety, reliability, and strict maintenance and monitoring standards to prevent future incidents.
